Dynasties of Asia offers this outstanding Chinese antique, a
beautiful black cabinet from the Tianjin province (outside
of Beijing).
The Q'ing Dynasty black cabinet is 100 years old and made
from northern Elm, or yumu.
The cabinet is lacquered black and has beautiful bronze
hardware, which is ingenious in the way it works.
The pulls on the doors and drawers are recessed in bronze
plates, a common characteristic with furnishings from the
Tianjin province.
Additionally, the bottom center door is removable.
Due to the natural conditions of the wood, there is evidence
of a crack in the left panel of this cabinet.
However, this so-called defect is expected of Chinese
antique furnishings of this age, especially considering the
type of climate that it originated from.
This Q'ing Dynasty black-lacquered cabinet is in remarkable
condition and is worthy of investment.
