Antique square stool, Ming dynasty, appx 500 years old

Dynasties of Asia offers this rare and unique antique Chinese stool.

Solidly built during the Ming Dynasty, this stool is over 500 years old, and originates from the Shanxi Province.

The age of this piece shows strong Ming Dynasty workmanship that is not easily reproduced in later eras.

This square stool is crafted from a dense heartwood called ziyu, or Purple Elm.  This wood was difficult to work with due to the fact that the wood did not dry easily, and was susceptible to warping or cracking.

This Chinese antique stool is a remarkable piece, in excellent condition.
