ming dynasty
antique round stool appx 500 years old
Dynasties of Asia is very proud to offer this
exceptionally rare collectors item.
This Round Stool was made over 500 years ago
during the Ming Dynasty, and originated from the Shanxi
Province.
The wood for this stool is Huaimu, or Chinese
Locust Wood, a very dense wood similar to northern elm or yumu
characteristic of the northern regions of China.
The workmanship is remarkable and solid, and
there is sufficient evidence of this stool having lacquer on the
surface, which has been worn down and creates a patina that
tells of centuries of various utilitarian functions.
Dynasties of Asia notes that this museum-quality
piece is very worthy of investment, and should be considered for
the serious collector of fine antique Chinese furnishings.
