Official's Summer Hat with a two-chamber leather storage
container, determined to be 150 years old.
The hat is made of silk and bamboo with silk border and is adorned with a
gold finial and red-dyed horse hair.
The container for this antique Chinese hat is made from a
thin-animal hide that has been polished. The top chamber is used
for the hat, while the bottom chamber was used for numerous
adornments.
This official's hat and storage container originate from the
Zhejiang Province, where much of government work was conducted
during the Q'ing Dynasty.
This is quite an unusual find and a beautiful ensemble worthy of
investment to the collector of Chinese antiques.
