large antique qing dynasty altar in poplar wood
Dynasties of Asia is proud to offer this very rare and unique
large Chinese altar.
Considering its size, this altar was most likely utilized in a
upper-class household.
On close inspection, please observe the hand crafted wood pegs
below the drawers.
After inquiring with numerous sources about the function of
these pegs on this antique Chinese altar, we have determined
that these mini-dowels were primarily used for hanging charms or
small religious symbols.
Poplar wood, a soft wood that was typically used during the
early-mid Q'ing Dynasty furnishings and carvings was employed to
craft this antique altar. There are two sets of doors at
the bottom of the altar which can be removed, another typical
feature of Chinese furnishings during the Q'ing Dynasty.
The hardware is crafted from bronze.

This antique Chinese Altar is in remarkable condition with no
restoration noted. It will require special art handling
for transport due to its size and weight.
Our Chinese Altar is a most unusual antique and definitely
worthy of investment.
