reverse painted art glass with wood stand, appx 150 yrs old
Dynasties of Asia offers this remarkable antique Chinese reverse
painted mirror with stand.
Reverse painted art became a common form of interpretation and
expression during the middle to late Q'ing Dynasty in China.
The stand that accompanies this antique painted mirror shows a
dog (fu) on each side of the frame, indicating that the mother
and child were being protected from outside influences.
Additionally, experts tend to believe that the dogs represented
the year of the dog...speculating that this Reverse Painted art
was made between 1838-1887.
